Highlights of Experience: Combines visits to the central highlands with the classic train ride to the eastern escarpment. 
The Central Highland region of Eritrea is a historical extension of the Nile civilization where sedentary agriculture evolved and became the main cultural characteristic.

Meals per Day Included: Breakfast

 

Day 1
  • leave hotel after breakfast at 10:30  to  Mendefera
  • stop on the way at Monguda peak  (Shiketi) to get a glimpse of the surrounding landscape
  • upon arrival at Mendefera  visitors will be driven to the St.George Coptic Church and the Roman Catholic Church
  •  lunch will be served at a local hotel
  •  drive up to the -Adiguala escarpment
  •  return to Mendefera for dinner and overnight accommodation

Day 2
  • leave to Dekemhare after breakfast
  • drive to Dekemhare via Tera-imni ; while driving enjoy the scenery and make stopovers to take view from vantage points
  • upon arrival lunch will be served followed by a journey to farther south to Kohaito historic ruins;
  •  and drive Senafe for dinner and overnight accommodation 

Day 3
  • return to Asmara; while driving make stopovers to take view of scenery
  • upon arrival head to base hotel for accommodation and dinner

Day 4
  • leave hotel after breakfast for an exciting narrow gauge steam train ride from Asmara to Ghinda
  • visitors will be entertained with traditional Eritrean coffee and will have ample opportunity to capture the spectacular and breath taking scenery 
  • return to Asmara having spent the day  enjoying  the classic train ride Asmara-Nefasit-Asmara
